June 18, 2008 -- Updated NYSDEC Freshwater wetlands for Niagara County are now available.
MRLC 1992 and 2001 Land Cover
June 05, 2008 -- The Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium has created raster datasets at 30m resolution, representing landcover classifications for years 1992 and 2001. MRLC also has datasets representing 2001 tree canopy (percentage), 2001 urban imperviousness (percentage), and landcover change from 1992 to 2001.
Orange County freshwater wetlands
May 14, 2008 -- Updated NYSDEC Freshwater wetlands for Orange County are now available.
Agricultural Districts shapefiles
April 17, 2008 -- Agricultural districts (from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets) for all available counties have been converted to UTM (NAD83) shapefiles. District boundaries for some counties have been updated for 2008.
Saratoga County freshwater wetlands
April 09, 2008 -- Updated DEC Freshwater wetlands for Saratoga are now available.
8-digit Watershed Boundaries for New York State
February 29, 2008 -- This shapefile is derived from the USGS dataset of nation-wide 1:250,000-scale hydrologic units, and contains those watersheds that intersect New York State.
Historical Land Cover, 1938-2000
February 27, 2008 -- These new shapefiles from the Lake Ontario Biocomplexity Project provide historical land cover classifications for the watersheds near Sandy Pond and Fair Haven, NY.
Hudson River Valley Gap Analysis 30m Land Cover
December 05, 2007 -- This raster dataset, provided by the Hudson River Estuary Program, presents landcover classification at 30m resolution for the counties of the Hudson River Valley. This dataset was derived from Landsat-5 satellite imagery from 1992 and 1993.
Tompkins County Tax Parcels 2007
August 15, 2007 -- New parcel boundaries available, with additional information (property class, address, and school district) from the Real Property Services (RPS) database.

Change in CUGIR data distribution
September 06, 2006 -- In an effort to make it easier for users to obtain the most up-to-date data available, and because some data provider's sites provide functionality that is not available in CUGIR, we are moving to a hybrid model of data distribution. Many datasets will continue to be available for direct download from CUGIR, but for others, only metadata and link to the provider's website will be available. Currently, the only data affected by this change are SSURGO soils data for NYS counties and other survey areas.
