Abstract: Topographic contours at intervals of 2 feet, covering the Town of Danby in Tompkins County, New York. These elevation contours were derived from LiDAR data collected in May 2008.
Purpose: This data was originally collected for the purpose of providing support for FEMA's Floodplain Map Modernization Program.

Vertical_Positional_Accuracy_Report: The original LiDAR data vertical accuracy is in compliance with the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) RMSE estimation of elevation data in support of 2ft. contour mapping products as it is referenced in the FEMA guidelines for flood hazard mapping, appendix A. The Institute of Applied Geospatial Technology performed a ground control analysis of the Tompkins County LiDAR data using ground control checkpoints in several land cover classes and found the resultant RMSE in the exposed ground class to be within the contract specifications of 0.185 meters.

Process_Description: Topographic contour lines from county-wide ESRI file geodatabase were converted to a shapefile, then simplified (generalized) using a tolerance of 0.5 feet, then clipped to the Town's 500-foot buffer. Extraneous columns were removed from the attribute table.
