Welcome to the Cornell University Geospatial Information Repository (CUGIR)

CUGIR is an active online repository in the National Spatial Data Clearinghouse program. CUGIR provides geospatial data and metadata for New York State, with special emphasis on those natural features relevant to agriculture, ecology, natural resources, and human-environment interactions.

In order to provide the best possible access to geospatial data for New York State, CUGIR coordinates its activities with those of the New York State GIS Clearinghouse.

Ulster County Freshwater Wetlands

June 17, 2009 -- Updated NYSDEC Freshwater Wetlands for Ulster County are now available.

Oneida and Herkimer Agricultural Districts

June 03, 2009 -- Updated agricultural districts for Oneida and Herkimer counties are now available. The new shapefiles for these counties include properties added during the annual open enrollments since the last district certification dates.

Erie County SSURGO Soils Data

May 29, 2009 -- Erie County SSURGO soils spatial data updated.

STATSGO2 General Soils Map

May 28, 2009 -- STATSGO2 data for New York state is now available.

Tompkins County Land Use and Land Cover 2007

April 20, 2009 -- The Tompkins County Planning Department has released a new landcover shapefile that is based on the 2007 NYS orthophotos. This dataset updates the existing 1995-era dataset, also available in CUGIR.

Agricultural Districts, 2009 updates

February 13, 2009 -- Updated agricultural districts for the following New York counties are now available: Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Genesee, Jefferson, Lewis, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Rensselaer, Schoharie, Seneca, Steuben, Ulster, Washington, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.
